TRE - Tension Releasing Exercises

Tension Releasing Exercises, known as TRE®, can help to release physical and psychological tension and trauma.

The practice is based on the idea that stress, tension and trauma is both psychological and physical, and that a physical release can encourage the body to let go of the mental stress.

A TRE® session takes you through a series of 7 movements or exercises that are designed to relax your psoas muscle.

The exercises bring on muscle vibrations that generally feel pleasant and soothing. After doing the exercises, many people report feelings of peace, well-being, and relaxed joint or muscle pain.

“TRE® is designed to be a self-help tool that, once learned, can be used independently as needed throughout one’s life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness.” – Tramaprevention.com

What should I expect during a session?

You will be guided through a series of easy stretches using the muscles of the lower body to build up a little shaking in the legs. Once the body is shaking, you lie on the floor, and encourage these natural vibrations to move through the body, without trying to control them. Most people enjoy the sensation of shaking and some report a physical or emotional release, without becoming overwhelmed by the process.

How long is a session?

A TRE session lasts 1 hour and is designed to train you into using the practice as a self-help tool.

How many sessions will I need?

Working with a TRE provider for five sessions will equip you with the skills to practice independently throughout your life, continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness.
